Tumblr makes it Easier to Find GIFs

Are you on Tumblr? If so, finding GIFs is going to be a whole lot easier for you. As Tumblr is a popular face for sharing GIFs, this is likely to be a popular update with users of the social media platform.
GIF is an acronym for Graphics Interchange Format. The animated photos come in a range of colors and can be funny, serious, cute or conjure up a range of other emotions.

Prior to the recent Tumblr update, users could share or upload GIFs by copy and pasting URLs to add them to their posts. The process, however, was slow, and for users who wanted to share a post quickly to get the ultimate fun effect, that was an issue.

Hence, the update this week to reconcile this time-lag issue. The new feature is that Tumblr adds in a GIF search tool to its editor. That makes it super easy for users to look up GIF photos on the social media platform. Simply press the “+” button, scroll to the “GIF” button and a magnifying glass with a search box that says “Search for a GIF” shows up on the screen.

The images appear with source credits. The reason for this link is that now the user who first posted the GIF on Tumblr will get a notification that you used the image. This method can help users expand their social circles, and that original poster of the GIF feels special that you took the time to share his or her image.

The changes are rolling out this week to all users. However, it only applies to the Web-based Tumblr rather than to the Tumblr app on mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets. Yahoo owns Tumblr! Inc. and is based in New York City. It is both a social networking and microblogging site, with more than 200 million blogs on it.
