If you have an Apple Beats Pill XL speaker, then you have a voluntary recall coming your way. This technological powerhouse of a product is now being recalled due to being a fire safety risk. The voluntary recall for the wireless speakers is because it is at risk of becoming overheated. This overheating state is a rare case issue but still may happen, explained Apple in a press release this week. The hazard is limited to solely the Beats Pill XL, not any other products (Apple or Beats).
For customers who have one of the Bluetooth-enabled speakers, they can click the link above in this post to find the contact information for Apple to be able to return their product. The return process involves filling out a web form, which if followed by Apple sending you a box, postage paid, for return of the physical products.
Once Apple receives said box, consumers can opt to get their money back via an electronic payment or instead get a credit at the Apple Store. The refund amount is $325.
As Apple explained in their June 3 announcement about the recall, “in rare cases, the battery in the Bets Pill XL may overheat and post a fire safety risk.”
The risk applies to any color of the Beats Pill XL, whether that be the titanium, white, black, pink or metallic sky version. The identifiable marker of a Beats Pill XL is the “b” logo for Beats on the grille of the speaker and “beats pill XL” written on the handle.
Beats by Dre launched the Beats Pill XL in November of 2013. Then, in 2014, Apple acquired Beats. The Bluetooth speakers are sold by Apple, Beats, and several other retailers around the globe.
Please note that Apple says in its recall announcement not to return your Beats Pill XL speaker to an Apple location in person but instead to follow their web process.
